An 11-year-old driving a minivan recklessly crashed and flipped over during a rainstorm in Northern California over the weekend, officials said.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said the incident started around 10:40 a.m. on Dec. 14 when they received multiple calls about a silver minivan driving erratically in Butte County, north of Sacramento. Callers said the van was driving at varying speeds and weaving between lanes heading south on State Route 99.
When officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver sped up and did not yield, while merging onto SR-70. Unaware that the driver was a child, the CHP briefly followed the minivan, as a wintry storm drenched the northern part of the state….
