Freeland Releases Leadership Campaign Video Focused on Trump

Former deputy prime minister Chrystia Freeland has released her first leadership campaign video after announcing that she is running to replace Justin Trudeau. The video focuses on President-Elect Donald Trump.
“Donald Trump doesn’t like me very much,” Freeland says at the start of the video, posted on the X platform on Jan. 18.
“During the first Trump administration, I fought hard to protect Canadian jobs, the Canadian economy, and our way of life, and we won,” she said, referring to her role as foreign affairs minister when negotiating the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) during Trump’s last term.
“Donald Trump and his billionaire buddies think they can push us around. Trump thinks we’re for sale, that he can take what isn’t his. We’re not going to let him,” she said, referring to Trump’s comments about Canada being the 51st U.S. state….
