The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has issued a public health alert for Wegmen’s frozen chicken nuggets over possible contamination with bone fragments.
The product should not be consumed and must be thrown away, the agency said. It can also be returned to stores.
The public health alert was issued after the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) received “multiple complaints of bone fragments” in the product.
“There have been no confirmed reports of injury due to consumption of these products,” the USDA said, but also urged concerned consumers to contact a health care provider.
A recall was not issued because the product has been pulled from store shelves and is no longer available for purchase. Public health alerts are usually issued by the USDA to inform the public about potential health risks when a recall isn’t recommended, the USDA says….
