A six-year-old child is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a weekend stabbing in downtown Halifax that led to the arrest of a teenager, police say.
Officers responded to the 1900-block of Barrington Street at approximately 1:20 p.m. on Feb. 23, where a six-year-old child was found with multiple stab wounds, Halifax Regional Police said in a press release.
The child was transported by ambulance to the IWK Health Centre, which is equipped with a pediatric trauma centre.
A suspect was located at the scene and was taken into custody, police said.
Elliott Chorny, 19, has since been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace in connection with the child’s stabbing, according to a Feb. 24 update released by police….
