Judge Blocks Key Parts of Trump’s Order Targeting Law Firm Susman Godfrey

A federal judge has issued a temporary restraining order blocking the Trump administration from enforcing key provisions of an executive order targeting prominent law firm Susman Godfrey.
In a paperless order issued on April 15, Judge Loren L. AliKhan of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia granted an emergency motion for a temporary restraining order filed by Susman Godfrey, the law firm that represented Dominion Voting Systems in its defamation lawsuit against former Trump lawyer and New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
AliKhan’s order halts the implementation of Sections 1, 3, and 5 of President Donald Trump’s April 9 executive order, titled “Addressing Risks from Susman Godfrey,” in which the president accused the law firm of “spearhead[ing] efforts to weaponize the American legal system,” “degrad[ing] the quality of American elections,” and supporting “unlawful discrimination … on the basis of race.”…
