Health Canada has issued a recall for two types of radon detectors sold in Canada via Amazon.ca, citing defects in the devices.
The Boyd Gresham “Toolhome” Radon Detector and the Funny Kitchen Home Radon Detector may pose a risk to human health because they do not accurately measure radon levels, the May 7 recall said, noting that no injuries or incidents have been reported to Health Canada thus far.
Radon is invisible, tasteless, and odourless and long-term exposure has been considered the second leading cause of lung cancer in Canada, Health Canada said.
When it is released outdoors it does not pose a health risk, the agency said, however, “in enclosed spaces, like homes, it can accumulate to high levels and become a risk to the health of you and your family.”…
