ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y.—State Sen. James Skoufis has secured $250,000 in the state budget for Orange County Community College (SUNY Orange) to create the AI and Healthcare Workforce Center, which will be the first of its kind in the state.
Skoufis and SUNY Orange President Kristine Young made the announcement at a press conference at the college’s Middletown campus on July 7. The goal of the program is to integrate the college’s well-established nursing and medical programs with the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence (AI).
The college will establish a center that will teach students, teachers, and community members how to apply AI to the field of medicine.
