Health Canada Issues Recall on 600,000 Electrical Outlets Sold Nationwide in Past Decade

Health Canada is issuing a recall for more than 600,000 electrical outlets sold across the country over the past 10 years because of a possible fire hazard.
Three models of Electrical Devices Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) safety outlets sold at Home Hardware locations across Canada have been recalled because of faulty terminal screws, the federal agency said in a recent advisory.
“The terminal screws on the product may not tighten properly, which may create an increase in temperature, posing a fire hazard,” Health Canada said in the statement.
There were 812 reports of screws that were faulty, stripped, or unable to be tightened, and one report of fire resulting in property damage as of July 9. There have been no injuries reported thus far, the health agency said….
