A shooting at Emory University in Atlanta on Aug. 8 has left a law enforcement officer injured and the assailant dead, according to authorities.
“There is no ongoing threat to the Emory campus or the surrounding neighborhood,” the Atlanta Police Department said at 6:43 p.m. ET on social media. “The incident involved a single shooter, who is now deceased.”
It added that one officer was injured and the scene remained “active.” Police said at around 5:30 p.m. ET that they were responding to reports of an active shooter and asked followers to avoid the area.
