Authorities have declared a mass casualty incident on Aug. 11 after a reported battery explosion at the U.S. Steel Clairton Coke Works in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
South EMS Dispatch logged the event at 11:29 a.m., labeling it a “Fire – Mass Casualty Incident,” Level 2 MCI—prompting the mobilization of emergency resources.
Police scanner traffic indicated at least two people were injured in the blast.
