A rural municipality in the province of Manitoba is selling residential lots for only $10 in an effort to encourage residential development in the area.
The Rural Municipality (RM) of Pipestone in southwest Manitoba is offering municipally owned residential lots for $10 to bring in more residents, as long as buyers construct a home within a year of purchasing the lot.
“The purpose of the policy is to encourage residential development and provide a format for individuals to purchase municipally owned residential lots at a low price,” the RM of Pipestone residential lots sales policy reads.
Buyers must provide the municipality with a $1,000 deposit per lot, and when the construction and landscaping is completed and an occupancy permit is issued, the municipality will return a refund of $990 to the buyer, making the total selling price $10 per lot….
