‘Catch a Predator’ Scheme Gone Wrong Results in Abduction but Eventual Arrest

The RCMP say a Calgary resident has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged child abduction in Airdrie, a city just north of Calgary, after youth engaged in a “catch a predator” scheme.
Airdrie RCMP responded to a report of a child abduction involving a 12-year-old male just before 8 p.m. on Aug. 18, after the youth escaped from the suspect’s vehicle while stopped at a red light and called 911, according to an Aug. 20 news release.
Soon after, the RCMP say they spotted the suspect vehicle and attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the suspect fled from police and drove south on a major highway that leads to Calgary….
