A 6.0-magnitude earthquake killed some 800 people and injured more than 2,500 in eastern Afghanistan, according to figures provided Monday by the Taliban. Eastern Afghanistan is mountainous, with remote areas, and the quake has worsened communications.
A plane carrying European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen was targeted by GPS navigation jamming before safely landing in Bulgaria on Sunday. The commission said Bulgarian authorities suspect this interference was carried out by Russia.
