The RCMP has launched its annual horse auction with up to 16 horses and more than 70 breeding doses for sale.
“This year’s auction is the largest to date, featuring up to 16 RCMP-bred Hanoverian horses and more than 70 artificial insemination breeding doses from the RCMP’s internationally recognized horse breeding program,” Public Services and Procurement Canada said in a Sept. 29 news release.
The auction will be held exclusively online for the sixth year in a row, through the federal government’s online auction program, GCSurplus.
Bidding opened on Sept. 29 at $5,000 per horse and will close over two days depending on the horse, on Oct. 7 and 8, to allow time for final bids. The proceeds from the auction will help support the Musical Ride horse breeding program, the release says….
