As the government shutdown enters its third day, senators will meet on Friday at noon to vote on a short-term funding bill for the fourth time. Passage doesn’t look likely, however, as bipartisan talks have failed to produce a breakthrough, although Senate Republicans are hopeful that 5 more Democrats will break party lines and join them to reopen the government.
British police said on Friday that they may have accidentally shot two victims, including one who died, in their attempts to control a car ramming and knife attack on a Manchester synagogue during Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.
