The Trump administration must pay the approximately $9 billion to fully fund food stamps for November, a federal judge ruled on Nov. 6.
U.S. District Judge John McConnell Jr. said during a remote hearing that officials violated his recent order, which gave the administration discretion over whether to partially or fully fund Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for November. McConnell said in that temporary restraining order that if officials chose partial payments, they must be issued by Thursday.
“Irreparable harm continues by the minute,” McConnell said. He entered a motion to enforce his order.
