President Donald Trump on Nov. 14 withdrew the nomination of Donald L. Korb, a veteran tax attorney, to serve as the top lawyer for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
“Please be advised that I am withdrawing the nomination of Donald Korb to be Assistant General Counsel in the Department of the Treasury,” Trump wrote in a social media post, while not elaborating on why he was pulling the nomination.
The Senate was preparing to vote on Korb’s nomination for assistant general counsel, a critical role that provides legal advice and support to departmental officials and staff on the Treasury Department’s full range of initiatives and responsibilities, including on how the government interprets tax codes and defends those positions in U.S. Tax Court….
