Meet the Man Rebuilding a Historic NY Ski Resort

MONTICELLO, N.Y.—With his dedication and passion, Mike Taylor is keeping Holiday Mountain open in Monticello, New York. He saved the over-60-year-old ski mountain from being turned into a housing development and is making major improvements.
Taylor, 57, a lifelong resident of Monticello, grew up skiing at Holiday Mountain. He went on to be a ski patroller, a paramedic, and the successful owner of Combined Energy Services & All Gas Welding Supply, a regional propane, compressed gas, and heating oil company.
Taylor’s great-grandmother owned a large plot of land in Monticello, and it was split when NY Route 17 was built. The part of the property closest to the mountain was sold to the town, allowing the municipality to open Holiday Mountain in 1957….
