The tide could be turning for America’s housing market as Redfin revealed there were 37 percent more home sellers than buyers in November.
In its Dec. 23 report, Redfin noted that the November percentage represented the biggest gap on record dating back to 2013, aside from this past summer. By comparison, the gap stood at 35.6 percent in October and 17 percent in November 2024.
Typically, a market with more than 10 percent more sellers than buyers is considered a buyer’s market. According to Redfin, the country has been experiencing a buyer’s market since May 2024.
While a buyer’s market usually provides more leverage for home seekers to negotiate, the report also notes that due to elevated prices nationwide, many potential buyers have still been priced out of several markets….
