Speech of the criminologist & researcher: Lambrini Avdela at the Headquarters of United Nations in Geneva

Lamprini Avdela is a legal scholar and practitioner whose work operates at the intersection of international protection, fundamental rights, and social justice. Currently a PhD Candidate in Social Policy at the University of Peloponnese, her doctoral research examines the institutional frameworks and rights of imprisoned women to motherhood and family life, providing a critical comparative analysis of European and American systems.

​Her academic trajectory is defined by a deep-seated commitment to the protection of vulnerable populations. She holds an MSc in Migration, Social Discrimination, and Citizenship, where her research focused on the practice of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) through a comparative study of European and African nations. Previously, she earned an MSc in Criminology and Anti-Crime Policy from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, examining the vulnerabilities of unaccompanied minors and refugees within the context of crime.

​Professionally, Ms. Avdela serves as a Case Worker and Dublin Expert for the Greek Ministry of Migration and Asylum, applying EU Law to complex legal and vulnerability assessments. Her background includes over a decade of self-employed legal practice and extensive humanitarian fieldwork, notably providing legal representation for unaccompanied minors through UNHCR-funded programs. A member of the Association of European Journalists and a certified adult educator, she continues to bridge the gap between high-level policy analysis and the lived realities of displaced and marginalized groups.

Like a scientist and PhD candidate in her thesis about the prisoner motherhood she insist to fight for social justice and human rights especially for women and children. On 18th of December she was the moderator on the round table about the interculture dialogue for peace, sustainability , ESGs in imigrations equality and personal growth.
