The famous painter Maria Sideri introduces to the Athenian public the exhibition: “In the Greece of King Otto” at the Museum of Athens on 25th of February  

The Museum of the City of Athens, a space of particular symbolic importance, as
it was the first residence of the first royal couple of Greece, hosts the solo art exhibition of the international recognized and awarded painter Maria Sideri, with the participation of herapprenticeship circle, entitled “In King Otto’s Greece”. The collection of 42 works delves into historical painting, highlighting important aspects of the period of the reign of King Otto and Queen Amalia of Greece,
which marked the foundation of the modern Hellenic State.

The artistic approach is based on the thorough research of Dr. Toni Breidel Hatzidimitriou, university professor of History, academician and author, whose evidence and studies illuminated the historical accuracy behind every brushstroke.

The exhibition, which also functions as an educational program, also inaugurates an academic concept in which history, arts, sociology and politics are combined with modern communication methods and technologies, without involving the use of Artificial Intelligence, purely utilizing the abilities and capabilities of Human Intelligence.

The creator Maria Sideri is an acclaimed painter specializing in historical representation and portraiture. Her work is characterized by the detailed rendering of the atmosphere of the era and the highlighting of historical personalities. She has exhibited her works in important cultural spaces in Greece
and abroad, where she has artistically represented Greece several times. The historical adviser Dr. Toni Breidel Hadjidimitriou is a distinguished historian and writer, with deep knowledge of the Ottonian period and the European influences on the emerging modern Greek identity. Through his rich archival
material and the study of documents, he offers the necessary historical background that allows art to function as a reliable source of knowledge.
