The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and a New York company announced again the recall of portable phone chargers sold through Amazon after the devices were found to have overheated and caught on fire, resulting in an at least one death and reports of minor burn injuries.
The products under recall are Casely Wireless Portable Power Banks (Model E33A), made by Brooklyn-based Casely, because the lithium-ion battery in the devices can “overheat and ignite, posing risk of serious injury or death from fire and burn hazards to consumers,” according to the CPSC and Casely.
Around 429,200 of the units are under recall, the notice said, adding that the power banks were previously recalled in April 2025….
