Prime Minister Mark Carney has appointed Jonathan Wilkinson, a Liberal MP and former minister, as Canada’s next ambassador to the European Union.
Wilkinson, who served in the cabinet of former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, will replace Ailish Campbell, who served as ambassador to the EU from 2020 to late 2025.
“With his vast experience as a minister, entrepreneur, and businessperson, Jonathan Wilkinson will drive this mission to help create greater security, prosperity, and sustainability on both sides of the Atlantic,” Carney said in a statement.
Wilkinson held cabinet roles as environment minister and natural resources minister under Trudeau, but wasn’t named to Carney’s cabinet after last year’s election….
