A man in Lethbridge, Alta., has been charged with impersonating a police officer after police stopped an SUV allegedly outfitted to resemble a law enforcement vehicle.
The Lethbridge Police Service Traffic Response Unit pulled over a black Ford Explorer on May 9 after observing the vehicle travelling along a major roadway equipped with police-style accessories, according to a police news release.
The vehicle had a push bar, light bar, LED lights, and siren speakers, along with roof-mounted antennas and a sticker reading “Police Interceptor” on the liftgate, police said.
While speaking to the driver, police also observed that the interior of the vehicle was equipped with an ignition override switch on the dash, toggle bars mounted to the centre console apparently for controlling the installed emergency equipment, a search light mounted on the driver’s side, and bars on the blacked-out, rear passenger windows, according to the release….
