MIDDLETOWN, N.Y.—Thomas Ryan, 32, was arrested on Aug. 9 by state police for the homicide of his father, Robert Ryan, 70, and the burning of a house.
The Greenville State Police responded to a house fire on Greenville Turnpike in the town of Greenville at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 6, and found the the body of a man later identified as Robert Ryan inside. Police immediately began searching for Robert’s son, Thomas, in connection with the case.
The state police said in their original Aug. 7 statement that the fire had been deliberately set, and that Thomas Ryan was seen in the area of Greenville Turnpike wearing sweatpants and a black shirt. He was driving a 2016 gray Toyota Prius, and the police stated that he was believed to be armed and dangerous. …
