The U.S. State Department on Sept. 1 urged American citizens worldwide, and especially in the Middle East, to be aware of possible travel disruptions and attacks.
Issued on Tuesday, the alert comes in the wake of new U.S. military strikes against Iran and Tehran’s promise to retaliate.
Iran and Iran-supportive groups “may target U.S. interests overseas or at locations associated with the United States and Americans throughout the world, including U.S. businesses and other institutions,” the Department of State said on its TravelGov X account.
“Due to tensions in the Middle East, the security environment remains complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation,” the agency said. “Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise heightened vigilance and be aware of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions.”…
