Families of the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks gathered at the 9/11 Memorial at the World Trade Center to read the names of those who died 25 years ago today at the annual ceremony to remember the 2977 people who died that day.
Family members of victims stood in pairs on a raised platform to read out victims’ names one by one, with them reading the name of their own relative at the end of their list. Many became emotional, addressing the dead relative with a message or adding in personal details and stories of the one they lost.
Vice President JD Vance, as well as former presidents and local politicians, joined the ceremony to mark the 25th anniversary of the attack, including Bill and Hillary Clinton, George and Laura Bush, Barack and Michelle Obama, Joe and Jill Biden, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, and New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and former Mayors Rudy Giuliani, Michael Bloomberg, and Bill de Blasio also attended the events….
