Can you share with us the most challenging or rewarding experience you’ve had as an actress so far, and how it has shaped your approach to future roles?
I was fortunate that my first roles were given to me after an audition as an exceptional talent. My collaboration with highly successful Greek actors such as Giorgos Marinos, Aliki Vougiouklaki, and Vangelis Seilinos marked my career. It was what I desired, and it motivated me to continue as I combined dance, theater, and prose.
We understand that you have been involved in political activities. How do you balance your artistic career with your political commitments, and how do these two aspects of your life complement each other?
Through politics, we can showcase art, while through art, we have the opportunity to express and satirize, leading to a different approach to politics.
How has your family played a role in your career, both as an actress and a singer? Are there specific values or lessons from your family that you find particularly influential in your work?
My family played a significant role in my career as both my parents were exceptional amateur actors with great talent. They provided me with the richness of this talent, helping me develop, study, and evolve as an artist. The lessons and values from my parents were the foundation for my career and personal growth.
As a singer, your music resonates with various genres. Could you tell us about your favorite music genre and how it has influenced your singing style? Are there specific artists or albums that have had a significant impact on your musical journey?
Opera is my favorite genre as it touches my soul. From a young age, opera was unknown in the city of Edessa where I lived, but it was what I wanted to sing without knowing what classical music or opera was. Influential artists include Maria Callas, Luciano Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, and impactful albums like La Traviata, Norma, Nabucco, etc.
You’ve collaborated with several artists in both acting and singing. Can you share a memorable collaboration experience and how it enhanced your creative process? Is there someone you dream of collaborating with in the future?
Memorable collaborations include American musicals with Giorgos Marinos, Cabaret story with Vangelis Seilinos, and my collaboration with the National Theater, which marked my career. From Greek artists, I would like to collaborate with Marios Fragoulis.
What is your typical creative process when preparing for a role or working on a new musical project? How do you find inspiration, and are there specific rituals or routines you follow to get into character or the right mindset for a performance?
I start by learning the lines, whether it’s prose or a song, then work methodically on each song or piece of prose. Inspiration comes from the text and lyrics, and I add my own elements to them. An artist must have the inspiration to create something more than what is given to them.
You excel in both acting and singing. How do you navigate the distinct challenges of each art form, and do you find that your experiences in one discipline inform or influence your work in the other?
Theater helps with singing; when I sing, I can immerse myself in the role of the lyrics and interpret the song as a character.
Of all the projects you’ve been a part of, both in acting and singing, is there one that holds a special place in your heart? What makes it stand out, and what did you learn from that particular experience?
The concert dedicated to world cinema with a touch of Hollywood holds a special place in my heart. It allowed me to change roles in each song and represent the artist who performed it. The patriotic songs with the Army Orchestra were also special, as well as singing the song of Hiroshima in Greek, English, and Japanese, delivering a message of peace. I hope the song reaches Hiroshima, resonates throughout Japan, and spreads peace worldwide.
