Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe says his government will ask voters to consider a full ban on social media for children younger than 16 after a national poll found three-quarters of Canadians support such a move.
An Angus Reid survey released on March 29 found that 75 percent of more than 4,000 respondents favour a ban like the one in Australia, where children younger than 16 are prevented from setting up accounts on platforms including TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, and Threads.
“Canada should be considering options to limit social media use by minors,” Moe said in a March 30 X post. “In the coming weeks, our government will be asking Saskatchewan people for their views on this matter.”…
