Apple CEO Tim Cook to Step Down, John Ternus Named New Chief

Apple announced a shakeup to its top leadership Monday, with Tim Cook to become executive chairman of the company’s board of directors and John Ternus the next CEO.
In a news release, Apple said the decisions were unanimously approved of by the board, and follows a “thoughtful, long-term succession planning process.” The pair will begin their new roles on Sept. 1.
“It has been the greatest privilege of my life to be the CEO of Apple and to have been trusted to lead such an extraordinary company,” Cook said in the news release.
