NASA’s Artemis II, the first crewed mission of the Artemis program, launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida to the moon on April 1.
The mission sent NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen on an approximately 10-day journey around the moon.
On Day 8, the crew conducts demonstrations to assess their ability to respond to radiation exposure, including building a protective shelter inside Orion.
The mission also includes experiments to measure radiation levels during deep space travel.
Later in the day, the crew tests Orion’s manual piloting capabilities, performing a series of altitude maneuvers and navigation tasks….
