The ELIA Lesvos Confest returns to Lesvos in 2026, more dynamic and ambitious than ever. From May 27 to May 30, the 3rd International Olive Conference and Festival, titled “Elaion Panton Valsamon Esti” (“Olive Oil is the Universal Balm”), will transform Lesvos into a global meeting point for contemporary agrifood dialogue, innovation and cultural exchange.
Bringing together leading scientists, agricultural professionals, entrepreneurs, chefs, researchers and creators from around the world, the conference highlights the multidimensional importance of the olive tree and olive oil in today’s society. Far beyond a traditional academic event, ELIA Lesvos Confest serves as an open platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration and international networking.
“At the heart of the festival lies the intersection of science, production, gastronomy, culture and sustainability. Through a rich program of presentations, workshops, exhibitions, tastings and cultural activities, participants will explore key issues such as sustainable agriculture, public health, the Mediterranean diet, olive oil innovation and the growing field of olive tourism,” mentions Greek Affairs
The conference also emphasizes the balance between tradition and modernity. Lesvos, an island deeply rooted in olive cultivation and Mediterranean heritage, provides the ideal setting for meaningful discussions about the future of food systems and environmental responsibility. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience not only scientific dialogue, but also the authentic culture and hospitality of the island.
The international prestige of the event is reinforced by the official approval of the International Olive Council (IOC), confirming the high standards and global significance of the conference. In addition, the support of Yale University and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens further strengthens its academic and scientific profile.
As the olive sector faces new environmental, economic and technological challenges, ELIA Lesvos Confest 2026 aims to foster innovative ideas and international cooperation while celebrating one of the Mediterranean’s most valuable symbols: the olive tree.
