Musical Tribute to Christos Nikolopoulos

The 3rd Directorate of Primary Education of Athens is organizing a major musical tribute to Christos Nikolopoulos on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 8:30 p.m. at the Petra Theater in Petroupoli. Admission to the public will be free, continuing a tradition that has become a leading cultural and educational initiative in public education.

This will be the 4th event in the series. Previous editions were dedicated to Manos Loizos, Mimis Plessas, and last year to Stavros Kouyioumtzis, leaving a strong impression on both audiences and the educational community. This year, the institution reaches a new peak with a tribute to the great composer Christos Nikolopoulos, a creator who, more than almost anyone else, has shaped Greek music over the past decades, connecting his work with both folk and art music traditions and with some of the most beloved songs in Greece’s collective memory.

Approximately 1,300 students from 76 primary schools of the 3rd Directorate of Athens will participate in the event, in collaboration with 43 music teachers, forming a unified, large-scale multi-voice school choir of unprecedented size.

The innovation of this initiative lies in its long-term and collective preparation: music teachers collaborate throughout the entire school year, receive training, and jointly develop unified orchestrations and artistic choices, which they then bring to the students in their respective schools.

The students will ultimately come together for the first and only time on stage, presenting a performance that is both artistically refined and educationally well-organized, as the culmination of an entire school year.
