Washington’s longstanding policies on Taiwan remain unchanged following the summit between President Donald Trump and Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping, officials said. Trump told reporters on Friday he declined to clarify his position on Taiwan when Xi asked whether the United States would defend the island.
