Police in Midland, Texas, were responding to a report of an active shooter on June 12 at a building in the 4600 block of West Wall Street, according to the department.
“Officers heard gunfire coming from the building and worked quickly to secure and clear the area,” the police reported on social media.
Armored units were deployed to the scene, and other agencies responded.
Midland Mayor Lori Blong confirmed one person had died and 11 others have been injured in the shooting.
“Our thoughts and prayers are absolutely with the victims and with the community,” Blong told reporters at a press conference.
A perimeter has been established, and a suspect is contained inside the building near the corner of Industrial Avenue and Wall Street, Blong said….
