Alberta’s NDP leader has announced his intention to pursue a seat in Calgary during the 2027 provincial election, rather than seeking re-election in Edmonton.
Naheed Nenshi, who served as the mayor of Calgary for 11 years prior to transitioning to provincial politics, made his announcement on July 16 through a letter addressed to his constituents in Edmonton-Strathcona.
“Today, I’m letting you know of a decision I’ve made,” Nenshi said in his letter posted on X. “While I’ve been thrilled every day to serve as your MLA, I will be seeking election in a Calgary riding in the next general election.”…
