Η δράση στον 2ο προκριματικό γύρο του Champions League ολοκληρώθηκε, με έξι ομάδες να εξασφαλίζουν την πρόκρισή τους στην επόμενη φάση. Η Ντιναμό Ζάγκρεμπ έκανε την ανατροπή απέναντι στην Τουν και πήρε το εισιτήριο, σε ένα αποτέλεσμα που παρουσιάζει ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον και για την ΑΕΚ.
Στους υπόλοιπους αγώνες, Σαμπά Μπακού, Μιάλμπι, Στουρμ Γκρατς και Αραράτ Αρμενίας πανηγύρισαν επίσης την πρόκριση, ενώ η Τσέλιε χρειάστηκε τη διαδικασία των πέναλτι για να κάμψει την αντίσταση της Εγκνάτια.

Η ΑΕΚ δεν είχε την εξέλιξη που επιθυμούσε στη ρεβάνς της Ντιναμό Ζάγκρεμπ με την Τουν καθώς οι Κροάτες κατάφεραν να επικρατήσουν με 3-2 στην παράταση και να εξασφαλίσουν την παρουσία τους στον τρίτο προκριματικό γύρο του Champions League.
Το συγκεκριμένο αποτέλεσμα δεν ευνοεί την Ένωση, καθώς περιορίζει σημαντικά τις πιθανότητές της να βρεθεί στο γκρουπ των ισχυρών ενόψει της κλήρωσης των playoffs. Η ενδεχόμενη πρόκριση της Τουν ήταν ένα από τα σενάρια που θα μπορούσαν να βελτιώσουν τη θέση της ΑΕΚ στην κατάταξη, όμως πλέον αυτό το ενδεχόμενο δεν υφίσταται.
