DOJ Finds UC San Diego Medical School Discriminates Against White, Asian Applicants

The University of California San Diego (UC San Diego) School of Medicine used race as a determining factor in admissions as far back as 2022, according to a Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation announced Monday.
Through the admissions process, white and Asian applicants were more likely to be denied compared to black and Hispanic applicants, violating federal law and a 2023 Supreme Court decision that banned race discrimination in higher education, the DOJ said.
