Police say they have arrested a man for driving his motorhome onto an active runway at the Abbotsford International Airport in southern B.C.
The alleged incident took place on the afternoon of July 25 when police say they responded to a motorhome that had crashed through a perimeter fence and entered the airport runway.
“Airport staff immediately responded, while air traffic control implemented measures to safely reroute general aviation aircraft operating at the airport,” the Abbotsford Police Department wrote in a July 25 release.
Officers subsequently arrested a 53-year-old Abbotsford resident without incident, according to police, who noted that the investigation is still in its early stages. Authorities have not released the identity of the man and have not offered a possible cause of him driving the RV onto the airport runway at this time. …
