Tropical Storm Bertha Expected to Form as Depression Nears Gulf Coast

The second named storm of the 2026 hurricane season is expected to form off the coast of Florida shortly, as a strengthening, spinning tropical depression heads northwest.
Positioned 105 miles south of Panama City, Florida, and 195 miles southeast of Mobile, Alabama, the storm is expected to grow as it inches its way off the coast of Florida’s Big Bend to then scrape across the rest of the Gulf Coast states over the next several days.
“The depression is moving erratically toward the northwest near three mph (six km/h),” the National Hurricane Center warned in its 4 p.m. CT advisory on July 20. …
