Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced charges Thursday against a 66-year-old man investigators say illegally voted in seven general elections over the course of two decades, despite never gaining American citizenship.
Giorgio Dominique Mucelli of Melbourne, a Canadian citizen and lawful permanent resident, faces one count of voting by a noncitizen elector, as well as one count of false affirmation—both third-degree felonies. An arrest warrant was issued following an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Election Crime Unit.
If convicted as charged, Mucelli faces up to 10 years in the Florida Department of Corrections.
“Florida will not allow noncitizens to steal the vote of Americans at the ballot box,” Uthmeier said in a statement. “This individual knowingly registered and voted while ineligible, lied about it when confronted, and undermined the integrity of our elections.”…
