The New Brunswick RCMP is warning the public against taking the law into their own hands following reports of individuals impersonating children to entice potential suspects into committing crimes.
“A group of individuals” has been engaging in incidents of vigilantism in the Dieppe, Moncton, and Riverview areas of the province, the RCMP said in a press release this week.
The Mounties are advising members of the public to leave such operations to the police. The press release emphasized the danger associated with civilians trying to apprehend potential offenders and pointed out that these actions could jeopardize ongoing police investigations, the collection of evidence, or future legal proceedings….
