Four people allegedly affiliated with Mexico’s Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), a foreign terrorist organization, have been indicted by the United States after being arrested in the Czech Republic in June, where they are alleged to have traveled to buy weapons.
An indictment unsealed in Florida on Aug. 11 states that the four defendants went to the Czech Republic to complete the purchase of weapons, including various European machine guns, rocket-propelled grenade launchers, mortar launchers, and accompanying ammunition and ordnance.
Edgar Alejandro Lopez Velasco, 44, Noe Diaz Jimenez, 33, Leobardo Gaxiola Lopez, 63, and Jose Miguel Alvarado Morales, 23, were arrested on the night of June 10/11. All four were indicted in Florida on federal charges of drug importation and firearms trafficking conspiracies.
