Hayden Panettiere died from a drug overdose, a coroner said on Sept. 22.
Panettiere was found to have multiple drugs in her system, the Greenville County Coroner’s Office in South Carolina said in a statement. The drugs included fentanyl and its chemical byproduct; the anti-anxiety medication alprazolam, a muscle relaxer; and a drug used to treat major depression and other serious mental health disorders.
The office did not immediately respond to a request for more information.
Panettiere, 36, died in Greenville on Aug. 16.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden,” her family said at the time. …
