Liberals Projected to Win Ontario, Quebec Byelections

The Liberals are projected to hold on to their seat in Ontario’s Beaches-East York and flip the seat in Quebec’s Chicoutimi-Le Fjord from the Conservatives in the Aug. 31 byelections.
Vote counting continues in the third byelection, in B.C.’s North Vancouver-Capilano.
As of 11:10 p.m. EST, Liberal candidate Gobeil was leading the race in Chicoutimi-Le Fjord, with Bloc Québécois candidate Caroline Dubé following with 33.7 percent of the vote and Conservative candidate Régis Gaudreault in third place with 13.3 percent.
In Beaches-East York, Tanveer Shahnawaz was leading with 54.9 percent of the vote, followed by NDP candidate Shannon Devine with 25.5 percent and Conservative candidate Jim Syrbos with 16.5 percent….
