Judge Temporarily Halts Big Bend Border Barrier Construction in Texas

U.S. District Judge Kathleen Cardone on Friday granted a preliminary injunction that blocks further ground-disturbing border barrier construction in Texas’s Big Bend National Park and surrounding areas until a lawsuit opposing the projects is decided.
The plaintiffs are the Center for Biological Diversity, Friends of the Ruidosa Church—a Presidio County nonprofit tied to a historic church—and Danny William Miller, a Rio Grande river guide and landowner in Redford. 
They sued the Department of Homeland Security and its secretary, Markwayne Mullin. The suit, filed in April, challenges five contracted projects and argues the work is unconstitutional, breaches the separation of powers, and takes land from residents. …
