Anthropic said on June 30 that it received notice that the U.S. Commerce Department has lifted export controls on Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most advanced artificial intelligence (AI) models, weeks after access to them was suspended due to security concerns.
“We’ll begin restoring access tomorrow, and will share an update soon,” the AI company said in a post on X.
“We’re grateful to our users for their patience, and to everyone who worked with us on redeploying the models,” it added.
The Commerce Department informed Anthropic of the change in a letter obtained by Reuters. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said in the letter that a license was no longer required to export the Mythos or Fable models. …
