Despite rising gas prices, more than 45 million Americans are expected to hit the road, fly, or take a bus, train, or cruise ship for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend between May 21 and May 25.
A May 11 report from the American Automobile Association (AAA) notes that this year’s forecast is slightly higher than last year, when 44.8 million people traveled for the traditional kickoff of the summer season.
AAA predicts that people will travel at least 50 miles from home during this time, setting a new record with 39.1 million driving, 3.66 million flying, and another 2.2 million using other means of transportation to travel to their desired destinations….
