Man Gets Life for Killing Minnesota Lawmaker and Her Husband

A man who shot and killed Minnesota state Sen. Melissa Hortman and her husband last year will spend his life in prison after a judge sentenced him to two consecutive life sentences plus 40 years on July 23. 
Vance Boelter, 59, pleaded guilty to the murders in June, and also admitted to shooting state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette in a separate attack that same evening. 
“The defendant looked me in the eyes and pulled the trigger,” Hoffman told the court at the sentencing hearing. “The defendant looked at my wife and chose to do the same. My wife and I now live with injuries. We live with our bodies remembering the gunfire.”…
