At least five people in Indiana have died this week, amid severe storms and flooding across the state, Gov. Mike Braun announced on Aug. 15.
“My heart is with the families and loved ones of the five Hoosiers we have lost and every family whose life has been changed by these storms. Please continue to take flooding seriously and stay away from floodwaters,” Braun said at a press conference on Saturday.
Indiana has experienced heavy rains for the past week, leading rivers to reach record levels and causing flooding throughout the state.
As of Aug. 15, the National Weather Service had reported flood warnings and flash flood advisories across most of the northern half of the state. In some areas, the National Weather Service recorded more than 11 inches of rainfall in a two-day period….
